Paul was inspired to enter education by his experiences as a student in inner-city Detroit. He loves helping students feel empowered to create positive change in their lives. In his spare time, he creates music, cooks and spends time with his son Ian.
I enjoy the uniqueness of each process required to provide students with cutting-edge resources, programming, and experiences that propel their human potential. With transparency and consistency, I’m fulfilled when I’m able to build a positive rapport with a diverse student body, fostering relationships to merge our collective creativity to yield a positive result towards education, professional careers, and personal goals.
My inspiration to serve in the field of education mostly resulted from my experiences as a student in the inner city of Detroit, Michigan (Detroit Public Schools). Being able to be quality educated in the midst of difficult circumstances throughout my educational journey provided me with an excellent knowledgebase to augment my desire to serve other students, educators and the community who endures circumstances reminiscent of my own. Being an educator allows me the freedom to invoke positive change and empowerment to students in a “real” way, unlike that of any other profession.
My most memorable “teacher” was the late Mr. Dan Bully. He served as the Coordinator for a college/career related program called Detroit Compact, which was housed at my high school. His effectiveness at being able to understand our life/experiences as students, providing options to offset many of the negative influences we saw, and his toughness to drive us to be accountable in and out of class gave myself and others the push we needed to become what we otherwise thought we couldn’t. I serve in my position in College, Career and Technical Education to a great degree with the hope that I can be just half as great as he was.
Spending quality time with Ian (my son), being in a creative space as a musician, artist and producer, sharing good laughs, cooking, and watching inspirational messages are activities I love to do in my spare time.
